Underwriting
Territory: Nationwide capability with some companies
All Brokerage risks require a written submission
to wholesale company markets for consideration and approval
and may require special payment terms and/or special applications.
Remember, the underwriter is your negotiating partner and
a producer as well. Accordingly, they must allocate their
time and efforts to complete submissions that give them the
highest probability of success.
The following are some producer
guidelines for best utilizing the Med James, Inc. Brokerage
markets:
• Call
your underwriter first to qualify the risk and learn if
there is a special application required.
• Type or write legibly on the application. The insurance company must
read this also.
• Take the time to craft a well thought out cover letter describing the
prospects operation, coverage requirements, and your production strategy.
• Follow up with your underwriter to learn if the information submitted
was adequate. Do not fax and forget!
• Learn your underwriter’s expertise and companies in order to market
effectively and avoid prior submission confusion. Resist the temptation to “shotgun.”
